Slit, The Letdowns, Blazon, Masochrist - Ward Lane Hamilton, 14/7/00

I'm not really qualified to review hardcore/metal bands, but then again, I'm not qualified to review any bands really, so I'll keep it short...

Masochrist - Don't play often around Hamilton - sort of Grindcore type stuff - probably have a few Godflesh albums in their  record collections.

Blazon - Had the biggest crowd of supporters of the night (who promptly left after they played) - played pretty full-on Hardcore but seemed to be a bit more relaxed and not as serious as some Hardcore bands I've seen (which is a good thing).

The Let Downs - Used to be called Viagra - play a more old-school style of Hardcore - their sound was way better than last time I saw them - maybe because this time I was standing with my head next to the PA and not up the  back guzzling beer....

Slit - Industrial/Goth - type band that played last - some songs threatened to blow up the PA - cool samples - drummer got out from behind his kit and bashed cymbals for one song - I liked the way some band members wandered on and off stage throughout the  set - any band that invites the audience up to hit stuff at the end of their set is O.K by me.
