The Hasselhoff Experiment, Poultice, Viagra - Xtatic, Hamilton, NZ, 25/3/99
Hamilton 3 piece Viagra, making a rare appearance, are first up tonight. This is the first time I've seen these guys and from what I saw they have the hardcore/punk thing pretty well sorted. Instead of the usual obvious California sound most punk bands seem to be aiming for these days, Viagra's influences seem (to me) to be more from the DC/New York side of things. Hopefully these guys will start playing about the place more often.
Got talking to some people outside, so unfortunately missed pretty much all of Poultice's set - sorry guys.
The Hasselhoff Experiment amble on stage and pull off another outstanding set, justifying all the publicity they've been receiving lately. 'Palm Of Hand' and 'Nightrider Theme' get a good response from the decent-sized crowd gathered, and by special request they finish with 'Feelin' Bad', a mighty fine punk rock song they apparently don't often play (can't understand why?).
